The Number 70

"Exactly 70 days later on May 6, 2022, after sunset, God inspired me to choose a date to get baptised at the Yardenit baptismal site in Israel. I was led to Sunday, July 3 – just under two months away. It was the first Sunday in July. As it happened, my dad was baptised on the first Sunday in July in 2003 (July 6) – 19 years earlier. He died eleven days earlier on April 25, 2022, aged 89 years old. He was 70 years old at the time he was baptised, and died on his 32,777th day of life!

Interestingly, the date I was led to be baptised on, fell on the 70th day since Dad died! (April 25 – July 3, 2022 – 69 days or the 70th day).

Because this baptism was inspired on a Friday after sunset, it was the start of the Sabbath Day, and also the 6th of Iyyar, 5782 in the Hebrew calendar. Interestingly, it was on this very day that Israel became a new state in 1948! (6 Iyyar, 5708 / May 15, 1948). They issued their declaration of independence on May 14, 1948 (5 Iyyar, 5708) at about 4 p.m., but it wasn’t until midnight that night (May 15) that the British Mandate for Palestine ended. Thus, this third potential baptism was inspired exactly 74 Hebrew years to the day that Israel became a new state!

Oddly enough, it wasn’t until Saturday, September 9, 2023 / 23 Elul, 5783 (exactly 70 weeks to the day in the Hebrew calendar since inspiring this baptism on 6 Iyyar, 5782), that God prompted me to add the preceding paragraph! I hadn’t really put it all together until that day! It is clear evidence again of God’s divine hand at work! I was just in the process of writing notes on this trip on that very day, and it happened to be exactly 70 weeks in the Hebrew calendar since inspiring this third proposed baptism! Given that I had already titled this trip “70 weeks”, it borders on the unbelievable! But I guess, that is God for you. He knows what’s going on, even when we don’t have a clue!

As it happened, September 9 was also my late little brother’s 44th birthday, had he not been killed in a gliding accident just short of his 30th birthday in 2009.

Furthermore, the date that this baptism was inspired on, fell on the 70th day prior to July 14, 2022 – which itself is exactly 70 weeks since the 70th day of the year. Again, that is not something that I could have put together prior to September 9."

July 29, 1942: Eduard Schulte and Heinrich Himmler

Ten days later on June 5, I made another interesting discovery. While watching a documentary on the rise of the Nazis, it suddenly crossed my mind to check if anything significant happened at Auschwitz in 1942, given that the first visit on October 7 was the 19th chronological, and 42nd inspired visit to Auschwitz respectively. Putting those two numbers together, you get the number 1942. As it happens, 1942 was a significant year indeed. According to the official Auschwitz memorial website, 1942 was the year that mass gassing of Jews began at Auschwitz. More importantly, however, in this context, on July 29, 1942, prominent German industrialist Eduard Schulte leaked information to the Allies about the Nazis plan to exterminate all the Jews in Europe, known as the “Final Solution”. Schulte is considered one of the first people to inform the west about Germany’s plans for the Jews. Baptism & The Number 777

(2 minute read) "One week later on January 4, just before midnight – day 777 since inspiring my July 14, 2022 visit to Auschwitz – I was about to make another interesting discovery. Some months earlier, I had worked out that there were exactly 500 days between my first and third proposed baptisms that God had inspired – neither of which I was actually baptised on! (February 18, 2021 – July 3, 2022). This seemed somewhat unusual to me at the time, but I couldn’t figure out what it meant, so just put it aside for the meantime. Fast forward to the early hours of January 5, 2023, and I made an interesting discovery! Because the number 777 had been on my mind lately, I wondered what date it would be on day 777 since my first proposed baptism.
